Coming up August 3rd is LITERARY NIGHT, featuring well-known Chicago poets Cynthia Gallaher and Jerry Pendergast and friends. Enjoy the readings outdoors as the afternoon turns into evening.
Cynthia will be reading both her poetry and excerpts from her new nonfiction book and memoir How to Live a Poetic Life, Even If You Aren’t a Poet, which won a National Indie Excellence Award. Recently she made a 10-city book tour to promote the book.
Cynthia, a Chicago-based poet and playwright, is author of three poetry collections and two chapbooks. The Chicago Public Library lists her among its “Top Ten Requested Chicago Poets.” Follow her on Twitter at @swimmerpoet and on her Facebook page at Frugal Poets.
Jerry will read his poetry. In school he always liked writing better than other things, enjoying sketching and painting with words and expressing things he felt passionate about. Since age 17 he knew he wanted to make writing a vocation.
Since that realization he has been writing regularly and seriously. You can frequently spot him at public readings.
The food highlight for August 3rd is Dante’s Pizzeria. This casual pizza parlor with a Divine Comedy/Middle Ages theme also serves subs and salads. It is just steps off Woodard Plaza at 2825 N Milwaukee Ave.
